Sticky Dogs are those who "stick around" a little longer than others. Perhaps they have medical issues, behavioral issues, social issues, are a little older or just for whatever reason have "stuck" around and need that extra love and attention to find their forever home. Some of these dogs also have a scholarship where someone has pledged a certain amount towards their normal adoption fee to aid in their getting adopted. Each biography on this page will tell you about the dog and the particulars.
Murphy:
Murphy is a one year old smooth coated Cocker Spaniel, possibly with a touch of Beagle mix. He has the Cocker docked tail but not all of that fur, so grooming should be pretty easy. For some that's a huge bonus! He currently weighs about 24 lbs and will probably mature to about 27 lbs or so.
Murphy is playful and energetic. He's somewhat selective about his dog friends so if there is another dog in the home Murphy would have to "pre-approve" it. Murphy is a bit too rambunctious at this point to be considered a good option for kids. We believe he is best suited for an adult home with folks who are experienced dog owners who will be committed to providing Murphy with love, structure and training. As best as we can tell, Murphy hasn't spent much time inside a home, so his new owners will need to be prepared to work with him on manners, as his foster parents have been doing.
With a calm, positive approach to training, we have found Murphy to be quick learner who is willing to please – especially if treats are involved!! Once he learns some discipline and improves his manners, Murphy will be a fabulous option to go hiking, jogging and accompany his family on all sorts of adventures.

Emma:
Emma is a 2-3 year old purebred German Shepherd who has a very sweet, loving disposition though initially will be shy and skittish. As she builds confidence in her new home, her personality begins to shine. Emma currently lives with a large breed puppy and a small breed dog. She loves to play and gets along great with them.
Emma is a typical GSD in that if she is outside, she is on patrol. She is an imposing figure at about 60lbs and has a bark that will scare the most dangerous of predators away but underneath it all, she's a real love. Don't tell the bad guys that though! She is an indoor dog and wants to be with her family as opposed to being outside. She is fully crate trained. She seems to have a liking for magazines so they've had to go out of "Emma reach". She is the perfect candidate for a person who works from home and wants a buddy. She'll stay out of your way but she'll enjoy your company.
Emma has visited the dog park and stays pretty close to foster Dad. But as she builds confidence this is a great place if her new family doesn't have a companion for her at home. She can still get in play time! Emma is an option for older kids who are ok that she'll be quiet and reserved at first. She just has to get to know her new surroundings and people, sights and sounds.
Emma unfortunately likes to chase the cats so she's not an option to go with cats.

Sombrero and Pinata:
We'd love to see these two find their fur-ever home together. They came in together and per the home that turned them in, they have lived together since they were pups. Momma Pinata loves to burrow under the covers and Daddy Sombrero loves to let his gal do whatever she wants! They are 7-8 years old and very small. Dad is about 5lbs and Mom is about 8lbs. Both get along wonderfully with dogs, cats and kids. They have lived with kids who dressed them up and lived with cats who liked to play with them. They co-exist with any size of dog from the rambunctious Dane puppy to the elder Maltese. They are doggy door trained and potty pad trained. Neither of them are big barkers. They are very loving and sweet and could go to a home with small kids or seniors. They are the perfect couple to visit a nursery school or a senior citizens residence.
Both have wonderful temperaments and are fabulously cuddly and snuggly. Forget all you've heard about yappy and snappy Chihuahuas in the past. They are little love bugs. They will win you over in a few minutes when they burrow in your lap, crawl in your purse, snuggle under the covers with you or just fall fast asleep in your lap.
***Adoption fee for both is $300 (total) Thank you anonymous donor for offering a scholarship.

X-Man:
X-Man is a 5 year old Miniature Pincher who's family lost their home. Thankfully, he avoided the shelter when a neighbor agreed to take him in. The neighbor then contacted one of our wonderful fosters who agreed to foster him until a new home could be found.
X-Man is very much a Min Pin: he is loving, loyal, suspicious of strangers, vigorous, inquisitive, funny and fearless. He loves toys, soft beds, and sleeping under his blankie, preferably with his foster mom. He's not too keen on car rides but he enjoys going for walks. He is on good terms with the cat in his home and he doesn't mind the dogs there either, provided they don't try to share his bed while he's on it. He enjoys playing with people and will try to entice you to join in the fun by dropping a toy at your feet.
Since X-Man hasn't had much exposure to young children, we prefer to place him in an adult only home. He is housebroken, knows how to use the doggy door and has very nice manners inside the home, though he's a bit too vocal to be a good option for condo or apartment living.
For those who love the breed or are looking for a well-mannered, fun-loving companion, our little 'X' might be just the right dog for you!
