Think Outside the Box
Momma Bell was at the shelter very pregnant and left to whelp on her own in a lonely, cold, noisy, dark shelter. Thank heavens she wasn't left there because if she'd been left there she would have died while she whelped.

We had gone to the shelter to get a senior dog and ended up taking him and a very pregnant Chihuahua who became known as Bell. She was a tiny thing with a huge belly. She was sweet as could be and we were instantly smitten. She was clearly going to whelp any day. She could barely move with her huge belly...

In the early Morning of March 4th Bell began to whelp and had one healthy puppy but quickly it became obvious that things were not going well and she was rushed to emergency. 12 hours later she was home with her 2 puppies who both survived! Amazing! Ironically another Mom took on the first puppy when Bell had to go to the vet and then didn't want to give her back. So Bell has 3 pups but one was "adopted" by another Mom....

Once Bell and 2 pups were stable they made their way to a brand new foster home with Kelli and Teri. They had adopted a Dachshund puppy a year earlier and now were venturing into the world of fostering. The first day Teri was off to the library to get books on her new adventure and to learn all about taking care of new born pups and Momma.

Welcome Aboard Kelli and Teri! Welcome Bell, Pinto and Cheese!

Cheesy a.k.a.  Moose

Cheesy is very outgoing and the biggest of the litter.  She loves playing with her toys and has been raised in a pack atmosphere with dogs ranging in size from 10 lbs. to 70 lbs. and is always in the middle of the group.  She loves her cuddles and to fall asleep on your lap.  Exploring the backyard is her favorite thing to do.  She is about 80% paper trained.  She is mostly white, but with tan spots coming out.  The spots with time have been getting darker.
Pintos a.k.a.  Jackson

SWM, looking for the perfect person or family.  Pintos bounces around and is just a happy go lucky little guy.  Pintos is almost all white with one small tan spot coming out on his side.  He is a cuddle boy.  His favorite place to sleep in the evening is on your shoulder when you are watching TV.  He is just as happy on the floor as on your lap.  Pintos is the runt of the litter, but he does not know that!!!  With one ear standing up and one flopping over, he has a comical look on his face.  His pictures just do not do him justice!!!  He has been raised in a pack from small dogs to large and has done well.  He is not as eager to jump into the mix when all are excited, but sits back and watches so that he does not get stepped on.  Pintos is a one of a kind!!!
Bell

A wonderful little chihuahua.  She is VERY social with dogs of all sizes.  Bell will stand up for herself without being aggressive.  She does well with children and adults.  In the evenings, she wants to be on your lap.
