Greek "Gods" and "Goddesses"
Our rescue took in 8 Lab-Basenji mix puppies from Taiwan. There are 4 boys, 4 girls. They are approximately 3 1/2 months old. They are well socialized with fun loving spirits and adventurous souls. They came off the plane and excitedly leaped into our arms ready for the next phase of their life. We expect they will be in the 30-40lbs range when full grown with the two largest of the litter probably being more in the 45-50lbs range.
This litter is currently living in a foster home with dogs, cats and kids. They are going to be kid proof after spending the day at a birthday party with kids non-stop holding, petting, walking, playing with them. The cats have been introduced and no one seemed even mildly interested. By the end of the second day even a few of them had curled up to the biggest house cat. Perhaps they think he's just one of them with different fur? Clearly they are going to grow up loving cats.
Aphrodite:
She is one of the two largest in the litter and she's a lover. She loves everyone and is an absolute sweetheart. She has an adventurous spirit without being over the top crazy. She will give as much love as you will receive and vice versa. She has a tail that thumps continually. She has the quintessential Lab looks.
Hera:
She is the other largest in the litter as well. She is more laid back and hang out with the group and let the wind blow in your face. She is happy to have you love her and she's content if you are busy. She is playful without being over the top. She definitely has the Lab with the touch of Basenji that mellows her out. Hera is also our photo hound. She loved having her picture taken and she literally sat as still as could be as if to say, "Here's a photo...Here's another photo...Let me turn this way, and catch my good side, ok?" She is a stunner that's for sure!
Achilles:
Achilles is friendly and outgoing and very personable. He doesn't mind if he ends up being the center of attention nor does he mind if he's overlooked. He is playful with the other dogs and often finds himself being the referee if the others are getting out of line. We like to refer to him as the peacemaker in the litter.
Hercules:
He looks like Dad was a Shepherd mix. He has some beautiful tan markings on his face and feet. He has just a hint of it to blend so well in the black background of his beautiful fur. He is the quietest of the litter. He is the one who will literally let you hold him for hours but he may try to run away at first as he's on the shy side. But once he's in your arms, he's perfectly content to stay all day long....His tail will just thump to the rhythm of your heartbeat and he's happiest actually being with his family.
Athena:
She is definitely the adventurous soul in this group. She is first through the gate to explore and first into the house to make sure everyone is doing what they are suppose to be doing. Athena is the meeter and greeter and loves everyone. If one will run up to you right away, it will be Athena. She is fearless!
