Red Hot Chili Peppers
Welcome to the Red Hot Chili Pepper family. Mom is Chili and she whelped 7 beautiful, tiny little babies 9 weeks ago. Her little puppies, with the biggest weighing 2.5lbs, are now ready to head to their new home. Momma Chili weighs about 9lbs. and she is a CKC Spaniel mix. We rescued her and the family from the shelter so we don't know who Dad was though it's pretty obvious he was tiny and well, probably a Chihuahua. We expect most of the puppies to be under 7lbs when full grown. They have lived in a foster home with dogs, cats and kids. They have been well socialized and loved. Now it's time to pass that onto a home that will continue the tradition.
Ceyenne: She is the runt of the litter. But don't tell her that. She thinks she is a giant and she is in personality. She loves people and is very use to be held and babied but she is also the first to tackle her siblings. They have been crowding her for 9 weeks and now she feels like she can stand up to them. She has no idea that she only weighs about 1.9lbs. This little girl is the perfect purse buddy. She is so tiny she'll fit right in and no one would even know there was a puppy except every once in awhile when you hear her squeak which is suppose to be a bark. She's working on it!
Chipolte: He was always as small as Ceyenne and recently grew, about 4oz. He's still tiny and still appears very fragile. We like to call him the special needs one of the litter. We worried from the first day about him because he was so small and we wondered if he'd ever fight to get to mom or the bowl eventually. But he must have because he kept growing, albeit slowly. If you watch him with the litter sometimes it seems like he doesn't get what is going on until one of them side-swipes him and then he stands up, shakes his head and glances back and forth AND THEN HE'S OFF to grab the first one he can to tackle them. Then he goes back to just hanging out and watching everyone. If he's by himself he's crazy fun and loves to play with toys, your clothes, anything he can get his mouth on. We will not place him with small children, sorry.
Habanera: We call her Hobby. If you want one that plays with toys and is willing to get into any type of mischief, then she's it. She will saunter around the house and pretend she's just hanging out until you turn your back and then BOOM she's into something. She has no problem climbing into the cupboards or climbing into a clean basket of clothes or waiting behind the couch for you to walk around so she can launch her sneak attack. She's the plotter of the group and it usually involves plotting to do something she should not be doing...
Jalapena (Penny): She will pretend to be shy but don't let her fool you. It's an act. She doesn't have a shy bone in her body and just watch her as she throws herself on top of strangers as they walk in the door. She acts like she never gets attention and she will smother you with kisses as if she's found a long lost friend. If you give her a toy, especially a leash, she plays like a maniac. It's almost embarrassing. She also has this growl that we all understand is suppose to be intimidating but it's hard not to laugh and especially when she is so serious. One day she was howling/growling/something and she threw her head back so far she fell over backwards and then charged her foster mom as if to say, "Don't laugh!" When the whole family was just doubled over laughing she pounced around the room barking at everyone. If you want a frisky, outgoing, friendly, playful one, then you can't beat Penny.
Peppercini: Chini is the pack leader. She will bolt out the door to greet you and jump right into your lap and she's perfectly happy never to get out. While the others will be playing WWE wrestling, she will just sit in foster Mom's lap and never move. But if someone gets out of line, she will run over, give it to them and then run back to Momma's lap. When there isn't a lap available she will gladly find a couch, chair or an elevated place that she can monitor the activities of the litter and let anyone know when they are getting out of hand. With Habanera, Jalapena and Serrano there is usually some type of mischief brewing so Chini has her paws full making sure nothing goes to far. If you want a lap dog, purse dog, lover girl, then she's yours.
Serrano (Chili Jr.): This little boy not only looks like Mom but is as sweet, gentle and loving as her too. He also has his little boy playfulness. He also can be rough and tumble and doesn't mind getting dirty. No pretty boy here, even though he is very handsome and looks like a little Teddy Bear. Don't tell him. He'd jump in a puddle just to prove to you he's all boy. But then when he gets tired, he wants to come snuggle with Momma Chili or foster mom. He also melts in the arms of the foster kids in the house. He can be in full swing and yet, as soon as he gets picked up he snuggles in, oh, and don't forget lots of kisses coming your way!
Tabasco: What a beautiful little guy. He is happy and fun loving. He is also a bit of a chunky monkey. He plows into the food bowl first and is usually the last one to leave and when he does it's usually with a burp followed by him tumbling over to take a nap. He's working on his manners and we're working on our patience! Just kidding. He is such a sweet loving little guy and he's a real gentleman in spirit. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Even when he's busy eating, he will always move to make room for others, especially Chipolte who he likes to protect. He's going to be a fabulous dog because he's such a wonderful puppy now.
These pups are ready for adoption.
