Her time was up. She had been found wandering the streets of Southern California as a single mom. Day after day she waited to be chosen for a new home. Yet that day never came.
But she'd caught the eye of a shelter employee who adored her. So when she'd been there too long and the supervisors were making their rounds to euthanize, with her on the list, she was grabbed out of her cage, hidden in a closet and a call was made to DPS. They immediately headed to the shelter to meet this special dog being hidden in the closet and they snuck her out the door before she could be euthanized.
A volunteer fostered her with the plan that she would foster a different dog every week. But she fell in love with her that night and the dog stayed. She named her Scampi.
